Breaking: Las Vegas Raiders Fire Numerous Coaches

Las Vegas Raiders

Following a 41-24 beatdown by the Cincinnati Bengals, the Las Vegas Raiders fired Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy. They also fired Offensive Line Coach James Cregg and Quarterback Coach Rich Scangarello. Getsy was hired in February after negotiations fell through with Kliff Kingsbury. He was the team’s second choice and came from a tumultuous tenure in Chicago. The Las Vegas Raiders offense has the most turnovers and the league’s worst rushing attack. They have also benched starting Quarterback Gardner Minshew three times this season.

Scott Turner Rumored To Be Next Offensive Coordinator

It’s been rumored that former Washington Commanders Offensive Coordinator Scott Turner will replace Getsy as the OC. Turner has been the Las Vegas Raiders passing game coordinator since 2023. He was previously the Commanders Offensive Coordinator from 2019-2022. In Washington, Turner’s highest-ranked offense was 14th during the 2020 season. He is the son of former Raiders Head Coach Norv Turner.

Turner’s offenses in Washington were mostly ranked between 29th and 21st. Given how bad the Las Vegas Raiders offense has been, it will be interesting to see if he can revitalize them. No team has a worse turnover differential at this moment than the Raiders at -14. Not to mention, they’ve benched Minshew three times as the starting quarterback. He might be on his way to losing the job permanently.

More Changes Rumored To Come

Vincent Bonsignoire of the Las Vegas Journal mentioned that these might not be the last changes for the struggling team. Currently, the Las Vegas Raiders sit at a 2-7. They are in the midst of a five-game losing streak as they head into their bye week. Players such as Maxx Crosby were loudly voicing their displeasure following the team’s beatdown in Cincinnati. It remains to be seen what will happen, but another change at quarterback might be coming.

The season has been so off the rails that superstar Wide Receiver Davante Adams requested a trade to the New York Jets. The offense’s game plan was particularly frustrating. The offense has scored a touchdown in four of the last five games, only to be outscored 46-6 heading into halftime. It likely led to frustration from Head Coach Antonio Pierce, but he had previously indicated that changes were not coming to Las Vegas.
