The Buccaneers vs Bears Week 10 matchup sends Tampa Bay into Soldier Field on Sunday, Nov. 8, with the Bucs looking to stop a skid against one of the NFC‘s hottest teams. Chicago enters at 6-2 and winners of four of its last five, while Tampa Bay sits at 3-5 and fighting to stay in the NFC South race. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Bears have won four straight home dates this season and ride a victory at Seattle into the matchup. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, are coming off a 16-0 shutout of Atlanta that snapped a two-game stretch of inconsistent offense. Both teams have something to prove: Chicago wants to validate its record against a tougher opponent, and Tampa Bay needs a road win to keep pace in a crowded division.

Buccaneers Outlook

Tampa Bay carries a plus-4 turnover differential into Chicago, the product of 16 takeaways against just 12 giveaways through eight games. That number stands out next to a passing attack that ranks near the bottom of the league at 147.5 yards per game, with Baker Mayfield completing 61.5% of his throws for 1,180 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions on the season.

Running back Bucky Irving has carried the offensive load, rushing for 728 yards and five touchdowns, and the Bucs lean on the ground game at 168.6 yards per contest, slightly ahead of Chicago’s rushing average. Tampa Bay also converts red zone trips into touchdowns at a 50% clip and scores on 84.62% of red zone visits overall, the better of the two teams in that category.

The injury report complicates the plan. Left tackle Tristan Wirfs is listed as questionable with a toe injury, safety Tykee Smith is questionable with an ankle issue, and linebacker Yaya Diaby is out with an MCL sprain. Wide receiver Jalen McMillan remains on injured reserve with a PCL sprain, and cornerback Josh Hayes is on injured reserve following knee surgery. Mayfield is expected to start barring a setback, with Wirfs’ status at tackle a key question for pass protection against a Chicago pass rush that has racked up 22 sacks this season.

Bears Outlook

Chicago’s offense has been the more productive of the two by a wide margin, averaging 404.6 total yards and 26.8 points per game. Quarterback Caleb Williams has completed 68.7% of his passes for 2,031 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions, giving the Bears a far more efficient passing attack than Tampa Bay’s at a yards-per-attempt clip of 7.4.

Running back D’Andre Swift has been the engine of the ground game, rushing for 545 yards and 10 touchdowns, while wide receiver Luther Burden III leads the receiving corps with 547 yards and three scores. Chicago also converts fourth downs at a 61.11% rate, well above Tampa Bay’s 30%, a sign of an offense comfortable taking chances in short-yardage situations.

The injury list is thinner on offense but notable on the roster depth chart. Running backs Kyle Monangai and linebacker D’Marco Jackson are both questionable with leg injuries, while offensive tackle Braxton Jones and defensive tackle Kentavius Street remain on injured reserve following surgeries, with Jones not expected back until February. Running back Zavier Scott is also on injured reserve with a wrist injury. Williams is expected to start at quarterback, and Swift is projected to anchor the backfield again given Monangai’s questionable tag.

Key Matchup

Tampa Bay’s pass defense, which has forced 16 takeaways and defended 44 passes this season, will be tested by a Bears passing game averaging 253.9 yards per game behind Williams’ 92.3 passer rating. The Buccaneers have generated 16 sacks as a defense, fewer than Chicago’s 22, but their turnover-creating ability gives them a path to disrupt a Bears offense that has thrown only five interceptions all year.

On the other side, Chicago’s defense, which has sacked opposing quarterbacks 22 times, lines up against a Tampa Bay offensive line already down Wirfs if his toe injury keeps him out. Mayfield has been sacked 23 times this season, and protecting him behind a line facing uncertainty at left tackle will determine whether the Bucs can sustain drives against a Bears defense playing at home.

Players To Watch

Baker Mayfield, QB, Buccaneers

Mayfield has thrown for 679 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions on the season. His ability to move the ball against a Chicago pass rush that has racked up 22 sacks will be central to Tampa Bay’s chances of sustaining drives on the road.

Caleb Williams, QB, Bears

Williams has completed 68.7% of his passes for 2,031 yards and eight touchdowns against just five interceptions, numbers that have powered Chicago’s 6-2 start. His performance against a Buccaneers defense with a plus-4 turnover differential will be a central storyline.

Bucky Irving, RB, Buccaneers

Irving has rushed for 728 yards and five touchdowns, giving Tampa Bay a ground option that can keep the offense balanced if the passing game struggles against Chicago’s pass rush.

What To Watch

Chicago sits second in the NFC North at 6-2, a half-game behind Minnesota’s 6-1 mark, and a win would keep pace in a tight divisional race. Tampa Bay sits at 3-5 in the NFC South, tied with Atlanta, and trails Carolina’s 3-4 mark in the loss column, making every result in November significant for playoff positioning.

The Buccaneers have split their last four games, including a 43-13 win over Carolina and a 16-0 shutout of Atlanta sandwiched around a 26-19 overtime loss to Pittsburgh. Chicago has won four of its last five, with its only loss in that stretch a 31-7 defeat at Green Bay. How each team’s recent form translates against a tougher opponent will shape the outcome at Soldier Field.
