There are some teams that have qualified for the College World Series in Omaha, and there are two series that are still continuing. Both of those series had games suspended yesterday, and both could end after just two games today. if the teams that won the first game of the series win today. The best way to summarize what happened in the Super Regionals is to go series by series.

Geogia beat Mississippi State in two games. Georgia won 13-12 on Sunday and 11-9 on Saturday. Ranked third, Georgia is the top seed remaining and has advanced to Omaha. They might be considered the favorites to win the title, they probably have the best lineup, but one has to consider West Virginia.

West Viginia destroyed Cal Poly in two games in Morgantown. They won big on Friday 12-2, and Sunday 17-1. They are hot and have a great traditional of singing when they win games at home. They have advanced to Omaha. There they will not have their raucous home crowd. There is also no such thing as momentum in baseball, so we will see.

The number four seed advanced was bounced from the College World Series in the Super Regional game as well. Aurburn lost at home in two games. They lost to Ole Miss, 5-3 on Saturday after losing 6-4 on Friday. Their loss continues the theme of the top-seeded teams being eliminated from this tournament. Ole Miss is a bit of a Cinderella, but not the biggest one.

The biggest Cinderella who advanced to Omaha is Troy. They defeated Little Rock in two games. Troy won 7-2 on Saturday after they won 12-2 on Friday. This battle of un-ranked teams was a hands-down triumph for Troy, who advanced to Ohama, after hosting two games.

Texas beat Oregon in two games, in a win for a blueblood over an Oregon team that was ranked number 11. Texas won 11-3 on Saturday, and 6-5 on Sunday. The Longhorns are ranked number six. They have had a history of success in the College World Series, so they are a team with which to be reckoned.

North Carolina and USC went to three games, with the Tar Heels winning 4-3 in the deciding game after splitting the first two games. This was a close battle, considering that North Carolina is ranked number 5 and USC is unranked. The Trojans gave the Tar Heels all they could handle, going to a third game.

There were two series that continued on Monday. Alabama eliminated St. John’s by winning a suspended game 7-2. They had won on Saturday 8-0. The Crimson Tide advanced to Omaha. St. John’s was not much competition for them

Also, it looks like Oklahoma will eliminate a Kansas team from the College World Series that is ranked number fifteen. The Sooners are winning right now 8-1. They won on Sunday 8-1 also. If Kansas comes back the two teams will play again tonight at 5 pm. This too would be a win for a blue blood over a ranked Kansas team.

Conclusion

After the Oklahoma and Kansas game finishes, we will learn the teams that are going to advance to Omaha. The defining feature of this tournament so far has been that the ranked teams have been falling with regularity. The top two seeds are out of the College World Series, but there are compelling storylines to come. Georgia has the likely number one pick in the Major League Baseball draft playing catcher for them and West appears to be a team of destiny.
