College World Series Resumes With 4 Super Regional Games Today, 8 Tomorrow

The College World Series resumes today with four Super Regional games. There are 8 games tomorrow. There has been chaos in the College World Series this year, with few of the ranked teams remaing. However, that does not mean there are no compelling stories.

West Virginia University plays today. They have a tradition in Morgantown of signing the John Denver song, “Take me home, country roads,” when they win. When they beat Kentucky, in extra innings, in an elimination game in Morgantown, the player who hit the walk-off single led the entire stadium in a rousing rendition of the Denver song. The College World Series resumes today, June 5, with four Super Regional games. There are eight games tomorrow. There are some great stories in the Super Regional round, even though there few ranked teams left.

Cal Poly faces the aforementioned West Virginia team on June 5 at noon. The game is in Morgantown, so Cal Poly has no chance. USC travels to the number 5-seeded North Carolina for a game at 3 pm in June 5. North Carolina is heavily favored, and they hit .294 as a team.

In a battle of Cinderelllas, Little Rock travels to Alabama to take on Troy. This might be the story of the college world seriesTroy is the favorite, but these teams are pretty similar. They both upset ranked teams in the regionals, and they both hit .291 on the year. Their game is at 5 pm. The final game today is when Ole Miss travels to number 4 Auburn. These Southeastern Conference foes have faced each other often this season. Does familiarity breed contempt?

Tomorrow, these teams will begin a three-game series, so they must win two games. There are eight more games tomorrow, with these four series playing their second game and four new series kicking off. So, there will be second games between Cal Poly and West Virginia, USC and North Carolina, Little Rock and Troy, and Ole Miss and Auburn.
