San Jose led 4-2 in the third period and nearly let it go. Los Angeles tied it with two goals, but Macklin Celebrini set up Chernyshov’s slap shot to end it. Celebrini finished with two assists.

Adrian Kempe opened the scoring at 15:50 of the first, with assists from Artemi Panarin and Brandt Clarke. Tyler Toffoli tied it 1-1 at 1:48 of the second.
Kiefer Sherwood put San Jose ahead at 9:52, and Nolan Allan made it 3-1 at 12:32. Quinton Byfield cut the lead to 3-2 with 2 seconds left in the period.
Chernyshov restored the two-goal margin with a backhand at 4:08 of the third. Erik Haula tipped one in at 10:21 to make it 4-3. Panarin tied it at 15:00 with a slap shot.
Goalies and special teams
Yaroslav Askarov stopped 31 of 35 shots for San Jose. Anton Forsberg made 20 saves on 25 shots for Los Angeles.
The Kings scored on two of three power plays. The Sharks went 1-for-2. Los Angeles took two penalties, and San Jose took three.
Stars of the night
Chernyshov had two goals. Kempe, Panarin and Byfield each had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles. Toffoli had a goal and an assist for San Jose.
