Los Angeles Chargers Sign Cornerback Donte Jackson To 2-Year Deal

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers signed Cornerback Donte Jackson to a 2-year $13 million deal on Monday afternoon. He is coming off a great 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jackson finished with 38 total tackles and a career-high 5 interceptions. Will he help bolster the Los Angeles Chargers defense in 2025?

Los Angeles Chargers Offseason Summary

Jackson joins a Chargers defense that was a strength of the team in 2024. They led the league in points allowed and were the seventh-best unit at defending the pass. Jackson will play opposite Asante Samuel Jr. in 2025. Los Angeles has had a solid day in free agency. They re-signed Linebacker Khalil Mack earlier in the day.

Los Angeles will look to build upon a strong 2024 season where they made the NFL Playoffs. The Chargers must also look to improve its receiver room this offseason as Quarterback Justin Herbert only had one reliable receiver option. That led to him having one of the worst postseason games in league history against the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round.

Final Thoughts

Jackson is a great signing for the Los Angeles Chargers. He will help solidify what was a strength of the team last season. If Los Angeles can continue having a solid offseason, they could be playoff-bound again in 2025.
