Diary of a Yankees fan #12 is about the news that broke late on October 19, Aaron Boone is coming back next year for the final year of his contract to manage the team. General Partner, Hal Steinbrenner, does not like paying people not to work, and that would have been the case if the team let him go. He has a decent regular season record, but make ridiculous decisions, says ridiculous things, and fails in the ultimate goal, which he states, year after year.
We will see, Diary of a Yankees fan #12, if there is a season next year. To make matters worse, second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. wants to come back as well. The free agent said before the season he wanted to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases. He was awful, and did not approach those lofty goals. Could the Yankees run it back again?
Diary of a Yankees Fan #12

It is strange that nobody from the team has made a public comment since the team was eliminated. There usually is some sort of season post mortum by now. This fact was speculated to mean the Yankee brass was discussing big changes. Guess not. However, the big news news that has fans of the Yankees up in arms, and probably writing diary of a Yankee fan articles is that Aaron Boone will be back as manager of the team.
Aaron Bleeping Boone
Aaron Boone hit one of the most famous home runs in Yankee history against the Boston Red Sox. For that reason, he is referred to in Boston as Aaron Bleeping Boone. The Yankees announced yesterday that he will be back in 2027, if the coming lockout does not cancel the entire season, as the manager of the team.
Aaron Boone is the sixth highest paid manger in baseball, and the team ennouced on Oct. 19 that he would be back to manage the team for the final year of his contract. He is being paid $4.5 million. He has been the manager of the team for the past 9 years. He is a lame duck, and was not given a contract extention. People hoped the silience meant Boone woul not be back. diary of a Yankees fan, this was not to be..
Incidentally, the contact for Brian Cashman runs out on December 31. His current contract is for four years and pays him $10 million a year. He is the highest paid baseball executive. It is very likely he will be given a new contract, because the current ownership group has described him, “as like family.” So, he is probably going to come back too. That would rate another diary of a Yankees fan article.
Whoops by Orioles Owner David Rubenstein
The Orioles Owner made a huge faux pos Friday right before the Owners are about to lockout the players. What was he thinking diary of a Yankees fan? The Collective Bargaining agreement for baseball expires on December 1. He said that he makes a ton of money. He says, “A lot of my friends were buying teams and I realized they are making money. They’re making more money than I am in private equity. I thought I should look at it as a finincial thing, but ultimately I bought the Orioles for a philanthropic purpose. I grew up in Baltimore, as people know. So, I bought the team to help rivive the team.”
So he is a billionaire, and he bought the team for philanthropic purposes. Yeah, right. He bought the team for $1.7 Billion. The Owner of the Chicago White Sox is just trying to puy food on the table. In the coming labor dispute the owners will stick together, but their story is not believable. Ulitimately, the owners will cave because they are going to be losing money. Also, the World Series is going to be played between two of the ten lowest payrolls in the League. There is a prediction for the readers of diary of a Yankees fan.
Conclusion: A Great Day to be a Yankee Fan
Not only is the bane of our existence in Aaron Boone coming back, but the team that eliminated the Yankees from the playoffs, and celebrated twice at Yankee Stadium, is going to the World Series. How are the Yankees supposed to compete with the Rays in the American League East. This is another bad omen for the owners, as these are two of the lowest payrolls in baseball. Obviously, a team does not need to be high-salried to be in the World Series. These are sucessful teams, unlike the Yankees. How did the Yankees respond, diary of a Yankees fan ? By bringing back their manager.
