The Milwaukee Bucks moved their Oct. 23 home opener against the Chicago Bulls from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. CT, a schedule change made to avoid a direct conflict with the World Series. The Bucks said they worked with the NBA office to shift the tip-off time after the Milwaukee Brewers clinched their first World Series berth since 1982 on Thursday.

Game 1 of the World Series will be hosted by the Brewers at American Family Field at 7 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. The Brewers will face either the Cleveland Guardians or Tampa Bay Rays, and their home game that night falls on the same date the Bucks had originally scheduled their opener against the Bulls.

Bucks Home Opener Schedule Change Explained

The Oct. 23 matchup against Chicago marks the second game of the season for both the Bucks and the Bulls, according to the Associated Press. Rather than compete with the Brewers’ World Series opener for attention in Milwaukee, the Bucks pushed their own tip-off eight hours earlier in the day.

The Bucks framed the move as a show of civic support rather than a logistical headache. “The Brewers’ return to the World Series for the first time in 44 years is a special moment for Milwaukee and sports fans across Wisconsin,” the team said in a statement. “Congratulations to the Brewers and the entire organization on this tremendous achievement, and we’ll be cheering them on as they begin their World Series run. The Bucks are proud to move our home opener to 3 p.m. in recognition of this historic occasion and thank the NBA for making this schedule change possible.”

What The Adjustment Means For Milwaukee’s Sports Calendar

The change underscores how much goodwill the Brewers’ pennant run has generated across Wisconsin’s pro sports scene. By ceding the evening window entirely to the Brewers, the Bucks avoided putting fans, media and local attention in the position of choosing between two marquee home events on the same night.

The Bucks open their actual season on the road against the Washington Wizards before returning home for the rescheduled opener against the Bulls. That road-opener detail means the Oct. 23 game already carried extra weight as Milwaukee’s first home appearance of the year, separate from the World Series overlap.

A Second Potential Conflict Looms On Oct. 31

The schedule shuffle may not be a one-time fix. The Bucks are set to host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 31, the same date Game 7 of the World Series would be played in Milwaukee if the series goes the distance. That creates a potential additional scheduling conflict depending on how far the Brewers advance.

No further NBA schedule changes have been announced for that date. Whether the Bucks and the league would again adjust tip-off time likely hinges on the World Series reaching a seventh game.

What’s Next

The Bucks host the Bulls at 3 p.m. CT on Oct. 23 in their adjusted home opener, while the Brewers open the World Series that evening at American Family Field. Fans can follow how the Bucks’ roster looks in that opener after Kel’el Ware’s bench role took shape behind Kyle Kuzma in the preseason. Milwaukee’s broader 2026-27 plans also include the launch of its new Bucks+ streaming service for the season.
