Arizona Cardinals Re-Sign Veteran Offensive Guard To 2-Year Deal

Arizona Cardinals Evan Brown

The Arizona Cardinals showed a lot of promise last year despite limited success. Kyler Murray had a fully healthy season, and the offense has some solid weapons. Running back James Connor continued to be one of the most consistent backs in the NFL. Marvin Harrison Jr. had a historic rookie season for the franchise, and tight end Trey McBride is one of the best young players at his position. The team has re-signed a key part of their offensive line, agreeing to terms with offensive guard Evan Brown.

Arizona Cardinals Re-Sign OG Evan Brown

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports it is a two-year deal worth $11.5 million. Evan Brown signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals last season and was a solid piece on the line. Connor won’t have the year that he had if the offensive line doesn’t play well. Brown has played all over the offensive line in his career which makes him a valuable asset for any team. The Cardinals now get him on a short term deal.

The Arizona Cardinals have made some quality depth signings in free agency so far. They signed edge Baron Browning to a two-year, $15 million deal. Brown is another piece that won’t win a Super Bowl right now, but he is a quality veteran locker-room presence and a good player. Can they make some noise in the NFC West?

2025 Outlook

The Arizona Cardinals could be the second-best team in the NFC West. The San Francisco 49ers have tons of questions around key players like Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey. Seattle has started to sell off key pieces like quarterback Geno Smith and wide receiver DK Metcalf. The biggest competition is the Los Angeles Rams, who made a big splash in free agency by signing wide receiver Davante Adams yesterday.

If the team can continue to improve, there is no reason they cannot push for one of the wild card slots in the NFC. It all depends on the play of the offense and the improvement of a defense lacking in star talent.

Final Thoughts

The Arizona Cardinals made another solid move in the offseason. While other teams may be making splashy moves, the Cardinals have been making solid moves that improve their team. Can they compete in the NFC West?
