Washington Commanders Interested In Cooper Kupp This Offseason

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have reportedly set their sights on former Super Bowl MVP Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp. He posted on social media on February 3 that the Los Angeles Rams informed him they would be looking to trade him this offseason. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Washington Commanders are the type of player the team is looking to add to its roster this spring.

Kupp had a season for the ages in 2021. He won the receiving triple crown and capped it off by winning Super Bowl MVP. Unfortunately, it has been downhill from there as injuries have hampered him. He has played in 33 of a possible 51 games over the last three seasons. Kupp’s injury history has seemingly hastened the breakup between the sides. Will Kupp be a good fit with the upstart Commanders?

Washington Commanders Season Summary

Washington had a shocking run to the NFC Championship Game. Their Cinderella run ended against the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, 55-23. The Commanders were powered by rookie Quarterback Jayden Daniels this season. He was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year following the season.

The Washington Commanders had a solid passing game during the 2024-25 season. They were 17th in the regular season in passing yards per game. Washington improved its passing game in the NFL Playoffs finishing second in yards per game. Daniels had a great season with a wide receiving corps that is not very good. Terry McLaurin was the team’s lone marquee receiving threat. Kupp would be a great No. 2 receiver and force defenses to focus on someone other than McLaurin.

Final Thoughts

Regardless if the Washington Commanders trade for Kupp this offseason, he will have many suitors in the National Football League. If he can stay healthy, he will look to rekindle his form from a few years ago as he looks to salvage his career.
