The San Francisco 49ers will be reportedly looking to trade Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel this offseason. San Francisco also granted Samuel and his agent permission to seek a trade. Samuel is coming off a down regular season. He had 51 receptions, 670 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns.
Samuel has been a crucial piece of the San Francisco 49ers during their solid run that resulted in two Super Bowl appearances. It seems like the sides could be going their separate ways this offseason. It does not come as a huge surprise as the 49ers made two moves last season illustrating Samuel’s time with the team could be ending. They signed Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a four-year $120 million contract and drafted Ricky Pearsall No. 31 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. How will this situation resolve itself?
San Francisco 49ers Season Summary
The #49ers are expected to explore trading star WR Deebo Samuel, sources say.
In what could be a wild offseason, a parting for Samuel and SF is not guaranteed, but it may make sense for all parties.

The San Francisco 49ers entered the regular season coming off a Super Bowl and had championship aspirations once again. Unfortunately, they fell far short of those lofty expectations. They finished in last place with a 6-11 record. Samuel’s poor performance added to San Francisco’s woes during the regular season.
It will be an offseason full of question marks for the San Francisco 49ers, and Samuel’s status is the latest example of that. The team must also decide if they want to give Quarterback Brock Purdy a long-term extension. Purdy did not have a good year after taking the league by storm in his first two NFL seasons.
Purdy battled through injuries this season, and even when he was healthy enough to suit up, played below expectations. San Francisco must decide if Purdy’s performance was solely impacted by a rash of injuries, or if he is unable to produce when his supporting cast is not spectacular.
Final Thoughts
Samuel will be a hot commodity in the trade market this offseason. Even though he is coming off an underwhelming season, he is only 29 and will be a valued piece of whatever team he suits up for the 2025 season.
