The Best Landing Spots For Myles Garrett

Myles Garrett

Cleveland Browns Defensive End Myles Garrett announced that he is requesting a trade out of Cleveland. The trade return for one of the game’s best defensive players would be considerable, and any team dealing for Garrett also must be able to afford him. He has two seasons left on his five-year, $125 million contract, or will this create a mega extension deal with Garrett and the Browns?

Best Landing Spots for Defensive End Myles Garrett

Here is a list of teams that could land the All-Pro, defensive player of the Year:

  1. Detroit Lions: The Lions went 12-5 on the season but ended up losing in the Divisional round of the playoffs. The Lions were one of the teams that were favored in the NFC to make it to the Super Bowl. With many injuries on defense, it hurt the Lions in the playoffs. With Detroit’s concerns on defense, Myles Garrett can help the defense with Aidan Hutchinson on the other side of the defensive line.
  2. Washington Commanders: The Commanders made it deep into the playoffs and shocked the NFL world with rookie Quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders took down the No. 1 seed Lions but fell short against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team’s biggest weakness is its defense. The Commanders gave up 55 points to the Eagles. Defensive End Dante Fowler had his best season with 10.5 sacks but he turns 31 and is a free agent.
  3. Atlanta Falcons: The Atlanta Falcons desperately need edge help with none of their players at the position earning a PFF overall grade above 70.0 in 2024. Atlanta also has a higher draft pick than the Lions and Commanders, owning the 15th overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. That could appeal to the Browns.

Other teams such as the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, Green Bay Packers, and the Arizona Cardinals will be interested in trading for Garrett. However, with Myles Garrett emphasizing he wants to win a Super Bowl particular teams are out of the equation. “As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl — and that goal fuels me today more than ever,” Garrett said in a statement via NFL.com.  It will cost a team a pretty penny to get him. He will ultimately decide on where he wants to go if Cleveland does trade him.

Garrett’s Career

Garrett, 29, has been with the organization since the Browns drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M. Garrett has seven consecutive seasons with double-digit sacks and has topped at least 14 sacks in each of the last four years. In 17 games played this season, Garrett totaled 14 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, and a league-leading 22 tackles for loss.

If the Cleveland Browns decide to trade Myles Garrett the team will rebuild. As of now, Cleveland has not been clear if they will trade Garrett. With Super Bowl LIX Sunday, it will have reports speculating. Will the Cleveland Browns trade Myles Garrett?
