The Baltimore Ravens beat the Atlanta Falcons 30-23 in overtime on Sunday, rallying from an eight-point deficit in the final three minutes of regulation behind backup quarterback Tyler Huntley. The win came with Lamar Jackson inactive due to an ankle injury, and it pushed Baltimore to 4-1 on the season.
Huntley led the Ravens on a game-tying touchdown drive with 40 seconds left in regulation, hitting Devontez Walker for the score before Derrick Henry took a direct snap into the end zone for the two-point conversion. In overtime, Huntley capped the comeback with a quarterback sneak for the winning score, and Kyle Hamilton sealed it with an interception of Tua Tagovailoa on Atlanta’s only offensive snap of the extra period. Falcons starter Michael Penix Jr. left the game with a rib injury on Atlanta’s last possession of regulation, forcing Tagovailoa into relief in overtime.
Key Moments And How The Ravens Won
Atlanta grabbed its first points on a defensive score. Mark Andrews caught a pass over the middle that Falcons safety Sydney Brown punched loose, and Jessie Bates III scooped the fumble and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown, putting Atlanta ahead 7-3 in the first quarter.
The Falcons extended that lead to 14-9 by halftime on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Penix to Kyle Pitts Sr., part of a first half in which Penix connected with Drake London for 25 yards and Jahan Dotson for 36 yards. Baltimore answered in the third quarter when Henry caught an 18-yard touchdown pass out of the backfield, cutting the deficit to 17-15, though the two-point try failed.
Atlanta appeared to have control after Nick Folk made field goals of 34 and 48 yards, the second coming with 2:31 left in regulation to make it 23-15. That is when Huntley drove Baltimore down the field for the tying score, setting up the extra period. In overtime, Huntley converted multiple third-down passes to manage the clock, including a completion to Andrews that moved the chains inside the 10-yard line before his go-ahead sneak with 2:57 remaining.
Top Performers
Huntley completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, adding a rushing score on the winning overtime play. Henry carried 24 times for 102 yards and caught the third-quarter touchdown pass. Rashod Bateman led Baltimore’s receivers with five catches for 62 yards, while Zay Flowers added eight receptions for 53 yards.
For Atlanta, Penix finished 19 of 32 for 240 yards and a touchdown before exiting with the rib injury. London paced the Falcons with seven catches for 118 yards, and Bijan Robinson ran 17 times for 86 yards. Folk made all three of his field goal attempts, including a 48-yarder, and Bates III’s fumble-return touchdown stood as Atlanta’s lone defensive or special teams score.
What It Means
Baltimore improved to 4-1 and sits atop the AFC North, while Atlanta fell to 2-3. The Ravens played without Lamar Jackson for a second straight week due to his ankle injury, and Huntley delivered a turnover-free performance that kept Baltimore’s record intact. The Falcons had been, according to Yahoo Sports, the hottest team in the NFL over the previous two weeks before the loss.
Atlanta’s defense generated a touchdown off the Andrews fumble but could not close out a game in which it led by eight points inside the final three minutes. Penix left with a rib injury.
What’s Next
The Ravens (4-1) return to action next week. The Falcons (2-3) will host their next opponent as Penix deals with his rib injury.
