- 2026 total cap figure of roughly $347.9M (Over the Cap) is unusually high relative to the known league salary cap (~$295-300M for 2026) and the source itself flagged that its top-51 subtotal ($287.7M) does not reconcile with the total cap-liabilities figure; treat the cap-space/dead-cap numbers for New England as approximate pending a second source.
- Drake Maye's individually credited passing yards (1,463) run slightly higher than the team passing-total row (1,461) on Pro-Football-Reference; this reflects the standard gross-vs-net accounting convention (team net passing yards subtracts sack yardage lost), not a sourcing conflict.

The complete story
Founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots, a charter American Football League franchise, the team joined the NFL in the 1970 merger and moved to Foxborough in 1971, adopting the 'New England' name and a nickname honoring Revolutionary War colonists. Under head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady from 2001-2019, the Patriots built one of the NFL's greatest dynasties, winning six Super Bowl titles. The franchise plays at Gillette Stadium and holds its oldest rivalries with the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets in the AFC East.
