The complete story
The Falcons joined the NFL as an expansion franchise in 1965-66, playing their first season in 1966. They have never won a league championship despite two Super Bowl appearances (1998 and 2016 seasons), including a historic collapse in Super Bowl LI. The team moved from Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium to the Georgia Dome in 1992 and to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017, and shares a heated divisional rivalry with the Saints, Panthers, and Buccaneers in the NFC South (formed 2002). Owner Arthur Blank, a Home Depot co-founder, has run the franchise since 2002.
