The New York Jets released veteran Linebacker C.J. Mosley on Wednesday evening. He is coming off an injury-plagued 2024 season with New York. He was limited to 4 games with a neck injury and a toe injury. Mosley finished the season with 17 total tackles.
Mosley has been one of the best linebackers in the league over his NFL career. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and has been named Second-Team All-Pro five times. He has 1,082 career tackles, 10 forced fumbles, and 12 interceptions. Where will the star linebacker play next season?
New York Jets Offseason Outlook
It has been an offseason of fresh starts for the New York Jets. Releasing Mosley is the latest example of that. The Jets signed Quarterback Justin Fields earlier this week after releasing future Hall of Fame Quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
New York has lost many other key pieces this offseason including future Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Davante Adams, Defensive Lineman Solomon Thomas, and Defensive Tackle Javon Kinlaw. The Jets have the longest playoff drought in the league at 14 seasons. By turning over its roster this offseason, New York hopes success will follow for the snake-bitten franchise.
Final Thoughts
Head Coach Aaron Glenn is looking to clean house entering his first year at the helm. Following a tumultuous two seasons with Rodgers, the franchise is looking to turn the page from that era. New York’s offseason has reflected its interest in turning over the roster from the last few seasons. Mosley was a casualty of that thought process, but he should find a home with a contending team soon.
