Minnesota Vikings Interested In Quarterback Aaron Rodgers For 2025 Season

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings could reportedly target Aaron Rodgers to be their quarterback next season if Daniel Jones does not re-sign with the team. Minnesota is not expected to bring back 2024 starting Quarterback Sam Darnold following the Seattle Seahawks trading away Geno Smith late last night. Jones is the team’s top option heading into the next season while Darnold is expected to end up in Seattle.

Rodgers will be looking for a new home next season. The favorite to land Rodgers is the New York Giants. He struggled early in the season with the New York Jets but came on strong in the second half of the year. Will the Minnesota Vikings land Rodgers as their quarterback this offseason?

Minnesota Vikings Offseason Outlook

Minnesota is reportedly looking to move on from Darnold following a disappointing final two games. Even though the Vikings finished 14-3, Darnold came up woefully short in the two biggest games of his career. He looked overwhelmed against the Detroit Lions in a Week 18 game with the NFC’s top seed hanging in the balance. He then struggled in the Wild Card Round against the Los Angeles Rams. The ending of the season presumably soured the Vikings on bringing back Darnold as a long-term option.

Final Thoughts

If Rodgers ultimately finds his way to Minnesota, he will follow a nearly identical script to that of former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre. Both future Hall of Famers were forced out by the Packers and came to the New York Jets. Favre finished his career with two seasons playing for the Minnesota Vikings. Only time will tell if Rodgers will write the same ending to a storied career.
