In a season that Cleveland fans might want to forget faster than a fourth-quarter collapse, Myles Garrett is once again proving he’s playing on a different planet. While the Browns have been about as consistent as a dial-up modem, Garrett continues to be the team’s one-man wrecking crew, a franchise cornerstone who shows up every Sunday ready to make quarterbacks question their life choices.
Let’s be honest, watching the Browns this year has been a rollercoaster. After a playoff appearance in 2023, the 2024 season’s 3-14 record felt like a punch to the gut. The team has faced losses to the Jets and Patriots, and even got walloped by their rival Ravens earlier in the season. With tickets going for as low as five bucks, the mood in Cleveland has been… well, let’s just say less than electric. But through it all, there’s been one constant, one shining beacon of hope wearing number 95. That beacon is Garrett.
Garrett Smashes Another Record
In the Week 11 rematch against the Baltimore Ravens, Garrett didn’t just show up; he decided to rewrite the NFL history books. Again. He burst through the line and took down the ever-elusive Lamar Jackson not once, but twice, before halftime. That second sack wasn’t just another notch on his belt; it was his 12th of the season, making him the first player in NFL history to record 12 or more sacks in six consecutive seasons.
He didn’t just break the record; he snatched it from the legendary Lawrence Taylor. When you’re putting your name above LT, you’re doing something truly special.
A One-Man Defensive Powerhouse
What makes Garrett so remarkable isn’t just the stats, but how he gets them. He commands double and triple teams on almost every snap, yet still finds a way to wreak havoc. His performance in Week 8 against the Patriots was a masterclass, where he racked up five sacks, setting a Browns single-game record. Even in games the Browns lose, Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz can’t help but marvel at his star, praising Garrett’s effort not just in the pass rush but against the run.
While the team around him struggles with injuries and inconsistency, Garrett continues to build a Hall of Fame resume. With multiple Pro Bowls, All-Pro selections, and a Defensive Player of the Year award already on his mantle, he’s the undisputed heart and soul of this defense. So, while Browns fans might be grumbling now, they can take solace in knowing they get to witness greatness every week. Garrett isn’t just a player; he’s an event.
