The Green Bay Packers are continuing their tradition of scouting top-tier talent from the University of Georgia, and their latest focus is on defensive tackle Christen Miller. As a likely second-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, Miller’s visit to Green Bay signals the team’s interest in bolstering its defensive line with another Bulldog standout.

A History of Georgia Talent For The Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have a well-documented affinity for Georgia defensive linemen. Their current roster already features three former Bulldogs: Devonte Wyatt, Warren Brinson, and Nazir Stackhouse. Adding Miller to the mix would further solidify this pipeline of talent from Athens to Green Bay.

Miller, a 6-foot-4, 321-pound powerhouse, played alongside Brinson and Stackhouse during his time at Georgia. After their departure to the NFL, Miller stepped up as a leader on the Bulldogs’ defensive line, starting 14 games in his final season. Over his last two years, he recorded 50 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss, showcasing his ability to disrupt plays in the backfield.

Versatility and Growth on the Field

One of Miller’s standout qualities is his versatility. At Georgia, he played multiple positions along the defensive line, excelling as a run-stopper in the middle. His quick first step and ability to penetrate gaps make him a potential asset for any NFL team looking to improve their interior defense. With further development, Miller could also become a more effective pass rusher, particularly if he’s allowed to play off the nose.

Miller’s maturity and self-awareness have also been evident off the field. Reflecting on a speeding incident in 2023, he acknowledged the importance of accountability and personal growth. “When mistakes like that happen, it teaches you, you have to grow up fast,” Miller said during the NFL Scouting Combine. His coach at Georgia, Kirby Smart, reinforced this lesson by assigning him early-morning workouts and community service, helping Miller develop a more disciplined approach to life and football.

A Strategic Decision to Stay at Georgia

Unlike many of his peers, Miller chose to return to Georgia for his senior year rather than declaring for the draft early. This decision allowed him to refine his skills, take on a leadership role, and prepare himself mentally and physically for the challenges of the NFL.

“I knew I wanted to graduate, I knew I wanted to be a leader for the team, and I knew I wasn’t ready to be an NFL player yet,” Miller explained. His commitment to “moving like a pro” and taking care of business both on and off the field has positioned him as a well-rounded prospect heading into the draft.

What Miller Brings to the Packers

If the Packers decide to draft Miller, he would join a defensive line that has struggled with injuries and inconsistency in recent years. His ability to anchor the middle of the line and disrupt opposing offenses could provide a much-needed boost to Green Bay’s defense.

While Miller did not participate in several key drills at the NFL Scouting Combine, his physical attributes—33-inch arms and 10-inch hands—highlight his potential to excel at the next level. His engaging personality and leadership qualities would also make him a valuable addition to the Packers’ locker room.

Final Thoughts

Christen Miller’s visit to Green Bay underscores the Packers’ commitment to building a strong, versatile defensive line. With his combination of size, athleticism, and maturity, Miller has the tools to make an immediate impact in the NFL. Whether or not he ends up in Green Bay, his journey from Georgia to the pros is one to watch as the draft approaches.
