More importantly, he sounded like a veteran leader ready to help Green Bay take the next step.
Zaire Franklin Believes the Green Bay Packers Are Ready to Contend
One of the biggest takeaways from Franklin’s media session was his confidence in what this defense can become.
“I’ve been in a lot of situations in this league. X has been in a lot of situations in this league, Micah, this team is growing,” Franklin said. “They’re not the young team that they were a year or two years ago. The Green Bay Packers is ready to take that next step.”
For a player who just arrived this offseason, those comments stood out.
Franklin wasn’t talking about potential. He was talking about expectations.
The veteran linebacker believes the Packers have outgrown the “young and promising” label and are ready to become one of the NFL’s elite teams. He took it a step further by saying Green Bay is prepared to become “that dominant team” capable of taking over the league.
Leadership May Be Just as Important as Production
The Packers knew they were getting a productive linebacker when they traded for Franklin. What may be even more valuable is the leadership he’s already bringing to the locker room.
Green Bay has plenty of talented young defenders, but Franklin arrives with years of experience as a defensive centerpiece. His voice could become especially important early in the season while the Packers navigate Micah Parsons’ absence.
