Denver Broncos Sign 2-Time Pro Bowl Tight End To 2-Year Deal

Denver Broncos sign Evan Engram

The Denver Broncos have rebuilt their team faster than many expected. In last year’s draft, many fans and analysts questioned taking Bo Nix in the first round. While he looked rocky at the beginning of the year, he turned into one of the most solid rookie quarterbacks of the class. What is even more impressive is that he did it with limited weapons. This offseason, the plan was to find more weapons on offense. They made a big signing, inking former Jaguars tight end Evan Engram to a two-year deal.

Denver Broncos Sign Evan Engram To 2-Year Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Denver Broncos are bringing in Evan Engram on a two-year deal worth up to $23 million and $16.5 million guaranteed. He was taken 23rd overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Giants but has played the last three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was injured for a good part of last year, but in 2023, he caught 114 passes for 963 yards and four touchdowns.

The tight end position was severely lacking last year for the Denver Broncos. Engram immediately gives Nix a large target. At 6-foot-3, he can be a matchup nightmare for linebackers and a great red zone target when the team gets in close. Head coach Sean Payton has a history of scheming well for tight ends, having made Jimmy Graham one of the best tight ends in New Orleans Saints history.

2025 Outlook

Anyone in the AFC West is in for a gauntlet in 2025. The Las Vegas Raiders have had a strong offseason, gaining quarterback Geno Smith and signing Maxx Crosby to a massive deal. The Chargers have continued to strengthen their team, and the Chiefs are the three-time conference champions. While the Denver Broncos have improved their roster this week, they will have one of the more difficult schedules in the NFL.

Payton has proven his coaching prowess time and time again. He and the front office are committed to making this offense one of the best in the league. All of it comes down to the development of Nix. If he can take the next step in his sophomore season, this team could surprise some people in 2025.
