College World Series Shocker! Number 1 UCLA Eliminated

The College World Series yesterday had one enormous surprise that is national news: UCLA, the number one overall seed in the tournament, was eliminated by St. Mary’s. Feel sorry for the Bruins’ seniors; they will never play for the team again.

The games yesterday in the College World Series were very exciting. Not only are some of the players about to be drafted into Major League Baseball. There was also one shocking upset.

St. Mary’s beat the top seed, UCLA, 6-5 in an elimination game in Los Angeles. Georgia beat Liberty 6-1. They advanced to the Super Regional. Oklahoma beat Georgia Tech, 15-8, in the Atlanta Regional. Georgia Tech is the Number Two overall seed. Auburn beat UCF 9-3 in an elimination game in the Auburn regional. Auburn then turned around and beat Milwaukee, 8-1, in another elimination game.

North Carolina beat East Carolina, 9-3, in the championship game of the Chapel Hill Regional. Alabama defeated Oklahoma State 9-7 in the Tuscaloosa Regional to advance to the Super Regionals. Texas also advanced. They beat UC Santa Barbara in the Austin region of the College World Series.

Florida State eliminated Northern Illinois 7-4, and USC beat Texas A&M 14-3; that was not an elimination game. Troy beat Florida, 16-11, in an upset in the Gainesville Regional, which was not an elimination game.

Oregon advanced to the Super Regional by defeating Oregon State 4-1. Arizona State eliminated Nebraska, 11-8, in an elimination game in the Lincoln Regional. Mississippi State advanced to the Super Regional by defeating Louisiana 19-5.

Kansas advanced to the Super Regional by defeating Arkansas 13-10 in the Lincoln Regional. West Virginia eliminated Wake Forest in the Morgantown regional, 10-5. Then they turned around and beat Kentucky in a non-elimination game.

College World Series Schedule June 1

The games on the last day of May set up the games on June 1. There are seven games on June 1. St. John’s faces Florida State at 12:00. Georgia Tech and Oklahoma tangle in an elimination game. Number Two Georgia Tech is the number two overall seed. It would be something if the two top seeds in the CWS were eliminated in the regional championships. Those two teams play again at 4 pm.

Auburn faces Milwaukee at 6 pm in an elimination game in the Auburn regional. Florida faces Troy at 6 pm in an elimination game in the Gainesville region. West Virginia and Kentucky also face each other at 6 pn in an elimination game. Finally, Texas A&M and USC play the nightcap at 9 pm in the College Station regional at 9 pm. That is an elimination game.
