The Boston Celtics may have missed their chance to land Giannis Antetokounmpo, but that doesn’t mean trade discussions involving Jaylen Brown have come to an end.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Celtics remain “actively engaged in trade talks” involving Brown, with multiple teams reportedly expressing interest in the former NBA Finals MVP. The report comes after Boston’s pursuit of Antetokounmpo fell short, forcing the front office to reconsider its options as it looks to reshape the roster.

While Celtics president Brad Stevens recently emphasized Brown’s importance to the franchise, the latest reports suggest Boston is still evaluating whether moving one of its biggest stars could better position the team for future success.

Boston Celtics Continue Evaluating Jaylen Brown’s Trade Value

Jaylen Brown’s name surfaced heavily in trade discussions during Boston’s pursuit of Antetokounmpo. According to reports, the Celtics offered a package centered around Brown and two first-round picks in an attempt to acquire the two-time MVP from the Milwaukee Bucks.

That deal never materialized, but Brown’s value around the league remains extremely high.

The All-Star wing proved last season that he can thrive as a franchise centerpiece, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while carrying a larger offensive workload. His performance only strengthened the belief that he can be the top option on a championship contender.

Because of that, rival teams continue to call Boston about his availability.

Some discussions have reportedly been initiated by interested teams, while others have come directly from the Celtics as they explore different roster-building scenarios.

Boston Appears Focused on Upgrading the Frontcourt

One of the more interesting details emerging from the reports is what Boston may be seeking in return.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, league executives believe the Celtics are searching for a high-level big man and could be willing to move Brown to acquire one. One name connected to those discussions is Cleveland Cavaliers star Evan Mobley.

Mobley would offer a completely different skill set than Brown. While he wouldn’t replace Brown’s scoring production, he is one of the league’s premier defensive players and could dramatically improve Boston’s interior defense.

Whether Cleveland would seriously entertain such a deal remains uncertain, but the report highlights the type of player Boston appears to be targeting.

Trade Rumors Likely Far From Over

Even after missing on Antetokounmpo, the Celtics clearly aren’t standing still.

Teams such as the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Atlanta Hawks have previously been linked to Brown, and those conversations could intensify as the offseason progresses.

For now, Brown remains a member of the Celtics. However, the latest reports suggest Boston’s front office is still exploring every avenue available as it searches for the right move to keep the franchise in championship contention.
