Belarus’ Aliona Falei beat Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-4, 6-2 on Friday to reach the semifinals of the Jingshan Tennis Open in China. Sorribes Tormo was the No. 8 seed, according to the tournament draw.

How Aliona Falei won the quarterfinal

Falei took the first set 6-4 and then pulled away, winning the second set 6-2 to finish the match in straight sets. Tennis Majors lists the match at 1 hour, 48 minutes on a hard court.

Sorribes Tormo, a Spaniard, was the higher seed in the draw. She could not push the match to a third set.

What Aliona Falei’s win means for the semifinals

The Jingshan Tennis Open is a WTA 125 event played Sept. 28-Oct. 4. Falei’s next match is listed as a semifinal against top-seeded Jessica Bouzas Maneiro on Saturday, Oct. 3, per Tennis Majors. Bouzas Maneiro earned her spot with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sofya Lansere on Friday.
