Lois Boisson routs Blinkova 6-0, 6-1 in stunning Adana run

Lucky loser Lois Boisson beat second-seeded Anna Blinkova 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the Adana Open on Thursday, Oct. 1, in Adana, Türkiye, reaching the semifinals of the WTA 125 hard-court event. Lois Boisson dropped just one game in the match, according to ESPN’s results.

The Frenchwoman lost in the final round of qualifying but got into the main draw as a lucky loser, according to the WTA draw. She has made the most of the second chance.

How Lois Boisson beat Blinkova

Boisson won the first set 6-0 and never let Blinkova settle in. Blinkova, seeded second and ranked No. 87 when the draw was made, won only one game in the second set before Boisson closed out the match 6-1.

In all, Boisson won 12 of the 13 games played.

Lois Boisson’s path through the Adana Open

Boisson won her first qualifying match 6-1, 6-1 over Piraye Ozdemir before Fiona Crawley beat her 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the qualifying final, ESPN results show. Once in the main draw, she knocked out eighth-seeded Lucia Bronzetti 6-1, 6-2 in the first round and then beat Martyna Kubka 6-3, 6-2.

Blinkova had reached the quarterfinals with wins over Emiliana Arango (7-6, 6-2) and Viktoria Hruncakova (6-2, 6-0).

Boisson is best known for her breakout run at the 2025 French Open, where she reached the semifinals as a wild card ranked No. 361 and upset No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals, The Associated Press reported.

What’s next

Boisson will face the winner of Friday’s quarterfinal between Erika Andreeva and Elena Pridankina, which is scheduled for 8 a.m. ET, according to ESPN. The semifinals are set for Saturday, Oct. 3, and the final for Sunday, Oct. 4.

Top-seeded Antonia Ruzic, who plays Teodora Kostovic on Friday, leads the other half of the draw along with Lucrezia Stefanini and Leolia Jeanjean, who also meet in the quarterfinals.
