Alexandra Shubladze’s Powerful Rally Tops Wei in 3 Sets

Alexandra Shubladze beat Wei Sijia 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-2 on Friday to reach the semifinals of the Jingshan Tennis Open in China.

Wei won the first-set tiebreak 7-3. Shubladze then won 12 of the final 17 games, taking the second set 6-3 and the third 6-2. Wei won only five games over the last two sets.

Alexandra Shubladze’s 2026 season

The 20-year-old Russian was ranked No. 190 as of Aug. 31 and hit a career-high No. 183 on July 20, according to her Wikipedia profile. She won an ITF W75 title in Lopota, Georgia, in April and back-to-back W35 titles in Wuning, China, in May.

What’s next at Jingshan

The Jingshan Tennis Open is a WTA 125 event on outdoor hard courts that runs through Sunday, Oct. 4. Shubladze’s semifinal opponent and match time have not been announced.
