The Miami Heat will play a one-night-only game as “Vice City” on Nov. 18, with new Vice City uniforms and a custom court, in a partnership with Rockstar Games. The game against the Milwaukee Bucks falls the night before Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Nov. 19.
The event is called “A Night in Vice City,” and it will take place at Kaseya Center in Miami. ESPN will broadcast the game nationally.
What the Vice City uniforms and court will look like
The team has not shown the full design yet. The Heat said the Vice City uniforms and court will be new and used for this game only, and more details will be revealed in the coming weeks, according to SportsLogos.Net.
Vice City, the fictional setting of the GTA series, is modeled on Miami. The Heat first introduced a Vice City Edition uniform in 2017-18, so the theme is a familiar one for the franchise.
A real-world Vice City push
Fans can already see the campaign around Kaseya Center, where a large “Welcome to Vice City” sign now sits on the arena roof. The Heat’s Court Culture clothing line also has a Vice City collection available through the team store.
The crossover turns a single regular-season game into a marketing event. Rather than a permanent change, the one-night format keeps the look exclusive.
Giannis and the Bucks
The opponent adds another storyline. Miami acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee in a blockbuster trade on July 6, sending Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis and picks to the Bucks, NBA.com reported. The game gives Antetokounmpo a date with his former team on a very loud night.
