Travis Hunter Makes Program History In Colorado Buffaloes Rout Over Arizona

Colorado Buffaloes Travis Hunter 2025 NFL Draft and Heisman Trophy

Travis Hunter is one of the most exciting players in college football. Every week, it seems he is doing something impossible on the field. Simply being on the field for all of the snaps on offense and defense is an amazing feat. Now, he is starting to make program history. In their rout of the Arizona Wildcats, Hunter made program history.

Travis Hunter Makes Colorado Buffaloes History

Travis Hunter didn’t play much on Saturday because he was still recovering from a shoulder injury. He only had two catches for 17 yards. However, that did put him over 50 catches on the season. He is only the seventh player in program history to record back-to-back seasons of 50+ catches. Colorado has not historically been a powerhouse program but this is still an impressive feat. It hasn’t taken him long to rack up these receptions. The season is only halfway done, and there is plenty more time to continue making program history.

Travis Hunter has put this team in a position to compete for a Big 12 title. They now sit at 5-2 on the season. With the expanded College Football Playoff, there is a real chance the Colorado Buffaloes could sneak in if they continue to improve their resume. They have some games against ranked teams coming in the future, and the good news is that those games will be at home. Travis Hunter isn’t the only player who is helping the Buffaloes win.

Shedeur Sanders Looking Sharp

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders also looked sharp on Saturday. He also jumped some program legends with his performance against the Wildcats. He now has 46 passing touchdowns in his Colorado career which passed Joel Klatt for fourth all-time in program history. Shedeur Sanders also has 493 completions in his career and passed the great Kordell Stewart for sixth all-time. If he can continue to put up these kinds of stats, he will continue to pass program legends.

Deion Sanders is proving himself to be a competent coach. Many people criticized his coaching last season and in the early parts of 2024. However, this season has already improved from last year. The Colorado Buffaloes went 4-8 last season. Their victory against the Arizona Wildcats was their fifth of the year already. While there were valid criticisms, Coach Prime had his team ready to play. If they continue to improve, this will be a scary team to play in the postseason.
