Tennessee Titans-Linebacker Cody Barton Agree To a 3-Year Contract

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans and Linebacker Cody Barton agreed to a 3-year $21 million deal on Monday evening. Barton is coming off a strong season with the Denver Broncos. He had 106 tackles during the regular season, 1.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery. Barton also had a great game in the Wild Card Round against the Buffalo Bills finishing with 8 total tackles. Barton was 28th in the league last season at defending the run according to PFF. Will he be a contributor to the Tennessee Titans?

Tennessee Titans Offseason Outlook

Tennessee has many holes to fill this offseason following another disappointing regular season. Fortunately for them, it led the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Titans have a few options with the top draft pick. They could trade down for a boatload of draft picks, draft a young quarterback, or draft a star defensive player.

Tennessee surprisingly had a strong defense in 2024. They surrendered the second-fewest yards per game and were one of the best units at defending the pass. One of the reasons for their strong defense on paper was the fact they were down in nearly every game and teams would run the ball to chew the clock.

Final Thoughts

Barton will look to anchor a Tennessee Titans defense that showed promise in 2024. Be that as it may, Tennessee still has lots of work to do to field a competitive team in 2025. It all starts with handling the NFL Draft effectively next month.
