The Los Angeles Rams informed Cooper Kupp the team is seeking to trade him this offseason. Kupp shared on social media on Monday night that the Rams were looking to trade him “immediately,” and that they were “working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships.“ Where will the star wide receiver end up?
LA Rams Trading Cooper Kupp This Offseason
The LA Rams are seeking to trade Kupp this offseason. The 31-year-old has two years left on his three-year, $80 million deal. He is owed $20 million next season and just shy of $20 million in 2026. He has spent his entire career with the Rams, who selected him in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Eastern Washington. He had 710 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 67 catches this past season, his eighth in the league.
Kupp took to social media Monday night saying “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA. “Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.”
The Rams went 10-7 on the season and won the NFC West. They went to beat the Minnesota Vikings in the first playoff game, but the Rams fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round. Kupp did not have a touchdown in the playoffs but was a big factor with six catches for 90 yards in the two games played.
His best season in the league came in 2021 with 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns on 145 catches. He also averaged an NFL-best 114 yards per game. The Rams ended up winning the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals later that season. He was also named Super Bowl MVP after catching eight passes for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns. One of which was the game-winning score.
Kupp Is Looking Forward
Kupp will be in the market for another team this offseason and not by choice. The LA Rams are going to seek a trade for him. This will free up cap space for the Rams as well. Kupp also said “I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.”
With Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, the offseason will officially begin in a few days. Teams will make moves to see who is interested in acquiring the star wideout for the upcoming season. The Rams are looking to improve their team and seeking a trade for Kupp is their first big offseason move.
