The Raiders vs 49ers Week 9 matchup sends a four-game San Francisco winner into Sunday as the clear favorite in the standings, but Las Vegas arrives off a win of its own. The Raiders (4-4) visit the 49ers (6-1) on Sunday, Nov. 8 at Levi’s Stadium, with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox. San Francisco sits atop the NFC West at .857, while Las Vegas is tied for second in the AFC West at .500 after beating the New York Jets 38-33 last week.

The 49ers have won four straight games before an Oct. 25 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, 29-20. The Raiders have dropped three of their last four, including a 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, before snapping that skid against the Jets. Raiders Outlook

Las Vegas carries a plus-5 turnover differential into Santa Clara, built on 13 takeaways through eight games against just eight giveaways. That number stands out against a 49ers team that has given the ball away 10 times and sits at minus-3 on the season. The Raiders defense has also produced 18 sacks, four more than San Francisco’s defensive unit.

Cousins has thrown for 2,124 yards with 19 touchdowns against five interceptions, completing 64.0% of his passes. Jeanty has carried 108 times for 337 yards and a touchdown, and Brock Bowers leads the receiving group with 41 catches for 547 yards and five scores. The running game remains a weak spot, averaging just 77.3 yards per game and 3.0 yards per carry.

On the injury front, cornerback Darien Porter (groin) and defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV (ankle) are listed as questionable, along with wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. (back). Defensive end Patrick Johnson remains on injured reserve with a neck injury, and defensive end Keyron Crawford is on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

49ers Outlook

San Francisco’s offense has been efficient in the red zone, scoring touchdowns on 86.36% of red zone trips and converting every red zone visit into points at a 100.00% scoring rate. Purdy has completed 69.2% of his passes for 1,748 yards with 15 touchdowns and just four interceptions, giving him a 110.1 passer rating.

Christian McCaffrey has been the focal point near the goal line, rushing for 389 yards and eight touchdowns on 84 carries. George Kittle leads the receivers with 34 catches for 425 yards and five scores. The 49ers convert 50.00% of their third downs, nine percentage points better than the Raiders.

San Francisco’s receiving room is thin. Brandon Aiyuk is out with a personal matter and has a return date listed as Nov. 15. Demarcus Robinson remains on injured reserve with an ankle sprain. Christian Kirk (knee), Deebo Samuel Sr. (hamstring) and Mike Evans (Achilles tendinitis) are all listed as questionable for Sunday.

Key Matchup

The Raiders pass rush, which has produced 18 sacks and 36 tackles for loss this season, faces a 49ers offensive line protecting a quarterback who has been sacked just seven times in seven games. If Las Vegas can disrupt Purdy at the rate it disrupted other quarterbacks this season, it could slow a 49ers passing attack that already may be without three of its top wide receivers. San Francisco’s answer is McCaffrey, who has scored eight rushing touchdowns and gives Purdy a reliable outlet regardless of who is split out wide.

Players To Watch

Brock Bowers, TE, Raiders

Bowers has 41 receptions for 547 yards and five touchdowns, making him Cousins’ most trusted target heading into a 49ers secondary that has allowed opposing passers to post strong numbers this season.

Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers

McCaffrey has scored eight rushing touchdowns on just 84 carries. With San Francisco’s receiver group banged up, his workload could carry even more weight in the game plan.

Maxx Crosby, DE, Raiders

Crosby anchors a Raiders defensive front that has racked up 18 sacks, and the team has said it has no plans to trade him ahead of the deadline.

What To Watch

San Francisco can extend its hold on first place in the NFC West with a win, while a Raiders victory would pull Las Vegas into a share of second place in the AFC West standings. The Raiders enter on a one-game winning streak after taking down the Jets 38-33, a result detailed alongside the team’s broader defensive situation following the upheld suspension appeal for Gardner-Johnson. San Francisco’s receiver shortage, which includes Aiyuk, Robinson and potentially Kirk, Samuel and Evans, will be worth tracking through pregame inactives.
