The Phoenix Suns gave Bol Bol his first start with the franchise last night, and he made the most of the opportunity. It was also his first start since April 6, 2023, and his first double-double since February 23, 2024. Bol finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds on Tuesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. An opportunity for the big man opened up when the team traded away Jusuf Nurkic last week.
Bol has been given the opportunity to play more as of late and has been a great supporting piece for the Phoenix Suns. He is averaging 16.3 points and 8 rebounds over his last three contests. Bol was not the only one who had a great night as all-time great Kevin Durant became the eighth player in NBA history to score 30,000 points on Tuesday. It has been a disappointing regular season for the Suns. They are 26-27 and a game out of the NBA Play-In Tournament. Phoenix had a busy NBA Trade Deadline which saw them try to trade away Durant. He nixed any trade options. He will remain in Phoenix for the remainder of the season. Phoenix entered the season with championship aspirations but has fallen way short of those lofty expectations.
The Suns offense has been mediocre this season. They are 14th in points scored, 11th in field goal percentage, and sixth in three-point percentage. This offense was expected to be near the league’s best with Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
Booker and Durant have both played extremely well this season, but Beal has struggled to stay on the floor and play well when he is healthy enough. Phoenix’s defense has also been mediocre this season. They are 20th in points allowed, 11th in opposing field goal percentage, and 13th in opposing three-point percentage.

Bol and the Phoenix Suns play their final game before the NBA All-Star break this evening on the road against the Houston Rockets. Phoenix will look to end the first half of the regular season on a high note and Bol will look to keep up his high level of play.
