After the 2026 NBA Finals, the Action Network went straight to work, analyzing over 1.6 million comments from the last 12 months across the subreddits of all 30 NBA fandoms.
The Philadelphia 76ers ended up as the No. 1 most foul-mouthed and the No. 1 most negative fandom in the NBA.
The Action Network’s analysis revealed which NBA fandoms are the politest and the most foul-mouthed. The analysis also uncovered which fanatics are the most positive and which fans are the most negative, along with the most popular swear words for each fanbase.

Philadelphia 76ers are the NBA’s Most Foul-Mouthed Fandom
The Philadelphia 76ers were ranked as the most foul-mouthed NBA fandom, with 10.50% of their comments containing swear words. The 76ers led the Houston Rockets, with 8.89%, and the Atlanta Hawks, with 8.80%.
The 76ers were also ranked as the most negative NBA fandom, with 31.67% of their comments conveying a negative tone. The 76ers led the Houston Rockets, with 31.35%, and the Orlando Magic, with 31.11%.
The Utah Jazz were ranked as the most positive NBA fandom, with 52.92% of their comments conveying a positive tone. The Jazz led the Brooklyn Nets, with 51.87%, and the Washington Wizards, with 50.80%.
The Jazz were also ranked as the politest NBA fandom, with just 5.19% of their comments containing swear words. The Jazz led the Washington Wizards, with 5.35%, and the Brooklyn Nets, with 5.53%.
A spokesperson for the Action Network said, “An analysis of over 1.6 million fan comments from the subreddits of all 30 NBA fandoms from the last 12 months found the Philadelphia 76ers to be both the most foul-mouthed NBA fandom, with 10.50% of their comments including swear words, and the most negative fandom, with 31.67% of their comments carrying a negative tone. On the opposite end, the Utah Jazz were found to be both the most positive fandom, with 52.92% of their comments carrying a positive tone, and the most polite fandom, with only 5.19% of their comments containing swear words.”

According to the Action Network’s analysis of over 1.6 million comments across all 30 NBA fandoms, the top five most foul-mouthed fandoms were the Philadelphia 76ers, with 10.50% of comments included swear words, Houston Rockets, with 8.89%, Atlanta Hawks, with 8.80%, Miami Heat, with 8.67%, and Boston Celtics, with 8.67%.
The Most Negative NBA Fandoms
The Action Network not only collected comments but also ran the remarks through a sentiment analysis tool that classified each remark as positive, negative, or neutral. As a result, each NBA fandom was ranked by its fair share of its comments that fell into each of the three categories.
According to the Action Network’s analysis, the top five most negative NBA fandoms were the New Orleans Pelicans, with 30.61% of comments conveying a negative tone, Philadelphia 76ers, with 31.67%, Houston Rockets, with 31.35%, Orlando Magic, with 31.11%, and Cleveland Cavaliers, with 30.65%.
The Most Positive NBA Fandoms
On the positive side of the Action Network’s analysis, the top five most positive NBA fandoms were the Utah Jazz, with 52.92% of comments conveying a positive tone, Brooklyn Nets, with 51.87%, Washington Wizards, with 50.80%, Indiana Pacers, with 50.07%, Los Angeles Lakers, with 48.72%.
The Politest NBA Fandoms
On the civilized side of the Action Network’s analysis, the top five most polite NBA fandoms were the Utah Jazz, with 5.19% of comments including swear words, Washington Wizards, with 5.35%, Brooklyn Nets, with 5.53%, Charlotte Hornets, with 6.16%, and Chicago Bulls, with 6.46%.
