Oklahoma City Thunder Point Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has put together a historic two-game stretch. Over his last two games, Gilgeous-Alexander has scored 92 points on 58.2% shooting from the field and 100% shooting from the charity stripe. He is the first player in league history to have those statistics over a two-game span.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s streak began on Monday against the Houston Rockets when he scored 51 points on 18-of-30 shooting from the field. It continued against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday when SGA scored 41 while shooting 14-of-25. After finishing second last season in MVP voting, Gilgeous-Alexander is the favorite to win the award this season. He is leading the league in points per game by a wide margin and is 15th in assists. Will Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder be able to keep up their high level of play?

Oklahoma City has been great this season. They are 51-11 and have the second-best record in the NBA. The team’s offense has been tremendous. They are fourth in points per game, eighth in field goal percentage, and 11th in three-point percentage. Forward Jalen Williams has been SGA’s running mate this season. Williams is averaging a career-high 21.4 points per game.
Oklahoma City’s defense has been strong. They are second in points allowed, first in opposing field goal percentage, and the best team in the league at defending the three-pointer. OKC’s great offense and defense led them to have the league’s best point differential.
Final Thoughts
When the Oklahoma City Thunder return to the court this evening, Gilgeous-Alexander will not be in the lineup. He will be out alongside Williams, Center Isaiah Hartenstein, and Guard Cason Wallace. Even with so many key players out, the Thunder should be able to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers. Gilgeous-Alexander will try to lock up the MVP over the final 20 games of the regular season and hope to take the Thunder on a deep postseason run.
