New York Mets Off To Best Start In Nearly 2 Decades

New York Mets

The New York Mets have been great to begin the regular season. It has led to their best 30-game start since 2006. They are 21-9 which is their fourth-best start in franchise history. In 2006, they finished 97-65 and lost in Game 7 of the NLCS.

The only other Mets team with better starts through 30 games are 1988, 1986, and 1972. In 1986, the New York Mets won their second World Series in franchise history. Will this great start lead to 2025 going down in history for the Mets?

New York Mets Season Summary

New York has the best record in Major League Baseball. An exciting offseason led to lofty expectations heading into the regular season. They have lived up to it thus far. New York’s offense has been mediocre. They are 14th in batting average, 13th in home runs, and eighth in runs scored. First Baseman Pete Alonso has paced the team’s offense. He is sixth in the league in batting average, third in RBI, and second in OPS.

New York’s pitching staff has been historically great to begin the regular season. They are leading the league in ERA, eighth in opposing batting average, and second in strikeouts. Starting Pitcher Griffin Canning is fourth in the league in wins and Tylor Megill is sixth in ERA.

Final Thoughts

The New York Mets return to the diamond tonight at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. New York has had a great start to the season, but it will mean nothing if they falter down the stretch. The team has World Series aspirations. Anything short of that would be viewed as a massive failure.
