The Orlando Magic are continuing to reshape their coaching staff this offseason. In a notable move, the organization has hired longtime Dallas Mavericks assistant God Shammgod.
Shammgod, widely respected across the league, will join Jamahl Mosley’s staff in Orlando. The two coaches worked together in Dallas, giving the Magic staff added chemistry and trust.
God Shammgod Takes On Elevated Role
Shammgod had served in Dallas since 2016, working closely with star players. His expertise in ball-handling and player development became a major asset for the Mavericks.
He now brings that same energy and skill development focus to Orlando. With a young roster, his guidance could make a meaningful long-term impact.
A Familiar Connection Reunites
Mosley and God Shammgod previously spent time together with the Mavericks organization. That connection played a role in facilitating this coaching reunion in Orlando.
Mosley is entering his fourth season as the Magic’s head coach, showing steady growth. Bringing in Shammgod adds an experienced voice with strong player relationships.
Final Thoughts
God Shammgod joins a Magic franchise focused on grooming its young core. Guards like Anthony Black and Riley Richardson are expected to benefit the most. His ability to develop confidence and court awareness will be crucial this season. For a team loaded with youth, that experience will help speed up their maturity.
The Magic continues building a staff around growth, development and accountability. Shammgod fits that mold perfectly, giving them another coach whom players respect. While Dallas continues to lose staffers, Orlando adds another strategic mind to its bench.
