Report: Los Angeles Dodgers Plan To Aggressively Pursue Tarik Skubal
If the Detroit Tigers decide to trade Tarik Skubal before the Aug. 3 deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers may be preparing to make the strongest push.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers are expected to be “all in” if Skubal becomes available. Considering Los Angeles already has one of baseball’s deepest rosters, the possibility of adding the reigning AL Cy Young winner is a scary thought for the rest of the league.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Have The Prospects To Get A Deal Done

Unlike many contenders, the Dodgers don’t just have championship aspirations; they also have the prospect capital to make a blockbuster trade happen.
Nightengale noted that Los Angeles’ highly regarded farm system and pitching depth could give the club enough ammunition to put together an attractive package for Detroit. If the Tigers ultimately decide to sell, the Dodgers are one of the few organizations capable of meeting what is expected to be a massive asking price.
That makes Los Angeles a team every Tigers fan should be watching closely over the next couple of weeks.
Skubal Would Make An Elite Rotation Even Better
The thought of Skubal joining the Dodgers’ rotation is almost unfair.
Los Angeles already features stars like Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani, giving it arguably the deepest collection of frontline starters in baseball when healthy. Adding Skubal would only strengthen a staff that’s already among the league’s best.
It’s easy to see why the Dodgers would be aggressive if the opportunity presents itself.
Detroit Still Isn’t Ready To Sell
Despite the growing speculation, a trade is far from inevitable.
Recent reports indicate the Tigers are trying to hold off on moving Skubal because they still believe they can compete in the American League Central. With the expanded playoff format, Detroit remains within striking distance, giving the front office reason to wait before making a franchise-altering decision.
As long as the Tigers remain in the postseason race, there’s little incentive to rush into a deal.
The Trade Deadline Is Quickly Approaching
Time is becoming the biggest factor in the Skubal sweepstakes.
With the deadline approaching, Detroit will soon have to decide whether to chase a playoff berth or maximize the return for a pitcher who is expected to command one of the biggest trade packages in recent memory.
If Skubal officially becomes available, expect the Dodgers to be one of the first teams making a serious phone call. Their combination of championship ambitions, prospect depth and financial resources makes them one of the most logical—and dangerous—landing spots for the Tigers’ ace.
