Baltimore Ravens vs Cleveland Browns Week 6 Preview

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter announced Friday that quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out for Sunday’s game at the Cleveland Browns because of a left ankle sprain suffered in Week 4. Backup Tyler Huntley will start for the second consecutive week as the 4-1 Ravens aim to stay undefeated on the road.

Jackson missed all three practices this week after sitting out last Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. He injured the ankle on the final play of the first half in Baltimore’s Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN.

What The Team Said About Jackson’s Status

Minter ruled Jackson out alongside center Cam Jurgens, who remains in concussion protocol, and tight end Matthew Hibner, who is out with a hand injury, according to Sporting News. No return timeline has been given for Jackson.

“I think it’s just a decision for his best interest,” Minter said. “And that’s really what every decision’s always going to be about.”

Jurgens has been out since the Ravens acquired him in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 7. No further details on the severity of his concussion or Hibner’s hand injury have been released.

Huntley’s Promotion And Depth Chart Impact

With Jackson sidelined, Huntley gets his fourth straight start. Rookie first-round pick Olaivavega Ioane will make his third consecutive start at center, moving over from right guard to replace Jurgens. Running back Derrick Henry backed the quarterback room’s readiness without Jackson.

“We won’t bat an eye with Snoop being in there,” Henry said. “Of course we want L out there, but we also want L to be healthy and be ready whenever he’s ready. Our job is just to hold it down until he gets back. Snoop’s doing a heck of a job.”

Huntley’s Season Numbers And Role

Huntley has won his last three starts, including a 30-23 overtime victory over the Falcons last Sunday when he scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard sneak. In that game, he completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns, per CBS Sports. Since the start of the 2025 season, Huntley leads all NFL starting quarterbacks with at least three starts in both QBR (79.7) and completion percentage (77.8%).

Baltimore has averaged 33.7 points per game in his three wins, and he has thrown four touchdowns against zero interceptions over that stretch, with victories over the Bears, Rams and Falcons. Huntley began 2025 as Baltimore’s third-string quarterback before overtaking Cooper Rush as the primary backup by Week 6. He rejoined the Ravens last offseason after the Browns, the team he now faces Sunday, released him.

Baltimore went 4-11 in its first 15 games without Jackson last season, a contrast to Huntley’s current three-game win streak as a starter this year.

What’s Next For The Ravens

Baltimore, holding a one-game lead in the AFC North at 4-1, plays at Cleveland on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX. The Ravens have won the last three meetings in the series and lead it 39-15 all-time, with an 18-9 road record in Cleveland. A win would move Baltimore to 4-0 on the road for only the second time in franchise history (the other was in 2020).
