Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kendal Daniels was hospitalized Sunday after suffering a neck injury during the third quarter of Atlanta’s game against the Chicago Bears, the team confirmed. Daniels was hurt when his facemask collided with Bears tight end Colston Loveland’s knee on a tackle attempt.
Medical personnel stabilized Daniels on the field, immobilized his neck and cut off his jersey before loading him onto a cart and stretcher. He was transported to Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
Falcons’ Update On Daniels’ Condition
The Falcons announced that Daniels “is alert and has movement in all his extremities,” according to the team’s statement. The announcement did not include a specific diagnosis or further detail on what doctors found during his evaluation at Memorial Hospital.
No timeline has been given for a potential return, and neither Daniels nor his family has issued a public statement on the injury.
Who Takes Over The Green Dot Duties
Daniels was wearing the green dot helmet and calling Atlanta’s defensive plays at the time of the injury. The other linebacker who wears the green dot, Divine Deablo, had already left the game earlier with an arm injury, leaving the Falcons needing to sort out defensive play-calling responsibilities for the remainder of Sunday’s game. No corresponding depth chart move has been announced.
Daniels’ Role This Season
Daniels, 23, entered Sunday’s game with 22 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one pass defended. A fourth-round pick in the 2026 draft, he played collegiately at Oklahoma State before transferring to Oklahoma in 2025. Daniels was born and raised in Oklahoma.
What’s Next
The Falcons have not released further information on Daniels’ status beyond the hospital update confirming he is alert and moving his extremities. Atlanta’s next game is against the New Orleans Saints, and any additional update on Daniels’ condition would likely come before that matchup.
