Joaquin Buckley and Daniel Cormier’s Big Meeting Before UFC 307

Joaquin Buckley

Joaquin Buckley will fight Stephen Thompson at UFC 307 in the Welterweight Division. Most importantly, Joaquin Buckley is taking this fight very seriously and showing enthusiasm for moving up the ranking ladder. On the other side, he has some controversies with some famous people. One of the biggest events that happened for him was meeting UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier to end their feud following their heated exchange this year. Some time ago, Joaquin Buckley won a fight, and after that fight, he challenged ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor.

He has been out of the Octagon for 3 years and is trying hard to get free from UFC at last. The trouble began when Daniel Cormier and some other commentators took action against Buckley and spoke about him, exchanging some hard words on social media platforms.

After some hard exchanges of words, Buckley later said he was keen on sitting down with Cormier to sort out whatever issues they were having before UFC 307. But before that, he also reacted to the statement made by his famous former rival, Kevin Holland. Kevin Holland and Buckley had some serious rivalry and issues, so to avoid starting a fight, Holland did not stay at the same hotel that UFC had booked for them, but he booked a private hotel for himself.

The result of the Buckley vs Holland fight was astonishing as Buckley was knocked out. Buckley stated he has no issues with Holland and that Holland’s plan never really played into action because Buckley is not even residing at the hotels meant for the fighters.

Normally, fighters have high tensions, so they settle them in the Octagon UFC, but this time, at UFC 307, Buckley clarified that there are no serious tensions between him and Thompson. Buckley said he had no problem with Thompson, besides knowing that defeating the two-time UFC title challenger would take him to the next level.

To make things clear to the fans and UFC, he clearly stated that all his focus is on the fight, and even though there is no tension between them, he is taking the fight very seriously. Buckley also revealed his intentions: He doesn’t only want to defeat Thompson for himself but also to prove to the famous Commentator Cormier that he is worthy of the big opportunities.

Joaquin Buckley just met with Daniel Cormier and said this about their meeting. “I just got done talking to D.C. That was cool. We were in front of the camera, I thought we were just going to be in the room by ourselves for a bit just to be able to talk like men. But it is what it is, we had a good conversation. A good interview. People will be able to see it. That’s what I thought it was going to be, off camera and just man to man, I think that’s the conversation I would rather have, I’d be more comfortable with it if anything.”

Final Thoughts

After all the events and controversies of Joaquin Buckley, we are just a few days away from UFC 307. This will be the event where we will see if Buckley’s statement was true or if it was just to have more publicity. He has reached this fight after great victories, but if he conquers the Octagon of UFC 307, then he will open the gates to big opportunities.

If he was able to secure a victory, then we might see him competing against fighters like Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov in the future, which will be interesting fights to watch.
