Jeremiah Fears was selected No. 7 overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2025 NBA Draft. He comes to the league following a standout freshman season with the Oklahoma Sooners. It led to him being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. The guard was one of the most electrifying players in this year’s draft. He came into his own late in the season. Will Fears be a good fit with the New Orleans Pelicans?
How Will Fears Fit With the New Orleans Pelicans?
Even though New Orleans has not had success on the court as of late, they have some talent on their roster. Zion Williamson, Guard Dejounte Murray, and the newly acquired Jordan Poole are the team’s marquee players. This draft pick will give Pelicans fans another dynamic player to cheer for as their rebuild continues. New Pelicans executive Joe Dumars, a great guard during his NBA career, placed a great amount of trust in Fears by drafting him in this spot.
Final Thoughts
Fears has a great deal of upside, but enters a Pelicans team chalked full of guards. That gives Dumars great flexibility to build the team in his image. Regardless of how the Pelicans look when the season tips off, they drafted a player they hope can be a cornerstone for the franchise.
