James Madison needed a win in this game, and they got another strong pitching performance from Lutz. That pitching performance enabled the Dukes to build a lead and get the breathing room necessary to build a lead and eventually win this game. This was an important win for the Dukes. It was the rubber game of the three-game series. Do you think the Dukes will use the momentum from this series to be successful in the rest of the season?

The biggest story of this game was how well Lutz pitched. His strong pitching gave the Dukes a chance to win the game; he gave up only one run in seven innings. James Madison scored single runs in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. Then, the teams traded runs in the third inning. The score of the game was 3-1.

JMU scored a run in the sixth inning and pulled Lutz after seven innings. The relief pitcher, Luke Alexander, promptly gave up two runs. However, JMU scored an insurance run in the eighth inning to take a 5-3 lead. The insurance run was scored by Josiah Seguin and a single by Clay Thompson. Seguin returned to the lineup in this game. He was 2-of-4 in this game with a double.

Lutz Starts

Lutz was the starting pitcher for James Madison in this game. The last time Lutz pitched, he had a quality start. Lutz, a freshman left-handed pitcher, is probably their best pitcher. He pitched very well today, enabling JMU to take a 2-0 lead after 4 innings. The young lefthander is developing into the staff ace.

Rubber Games

In a three-game series, if each team has won one game, the third game of the series is called the rubber game. That means whichever team wins the third game of the series wins the series, two games to one. That was the case today with James Madison. They won the game and took the Sun Belt Conference series with Marshall.
