No. 7 Indiana scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns through the air to beat Nebraska 20-17 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, improving to 6-0. Josh Hoover threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns, both to Nick Marsh, who finished with six catches for 187 yards. Nebraska fell to 5-1 despite outgaining Indiana 383-328 in total yards.

Indiana trailed 17-6 entering the fourth quarter before erasing the deficit in less than five minutes of game time. Anthony Colandrea had given Nebraska a two-score cushion with a 39-yard touchdown run at the 12:01 mark of the final period, but Hoover answered 10 seconds later with a 75-yard scoring strike to Marsh. Hoover and Marsh connected again from 44 yards out with 7:13 remaining to put Indiana ahead for good.

Takeaways From Indiana’s Win Over Nebraska

Indiana’s offense found its footing late

The Hoosiers managed just 65 rushing yards on 22 carries and converted only 1 of 10 third downs, numbers that typically spell trouble on the road. Instead, Indiana leaned on explosive plays through the air. Hoover’s two touchdown passes to Marsh covered 119 yards combined and accounted for both of Indiana’s touchdowns in the game.

Nebraska controlled the clock but not the scoreboard

Nebraska possessed the ball for 39 minutes 33 seconds compared to Indiana’s 20:27 and piled up 25 first downs to Indiana’s 13. The Cornhuskers converted 10 of 19 third-down attempts. Volume did not translate into points in the fourth quarter, when Nebraska was outscored 14-7 after building its early lead.

Turnover swung in Indiana’s favor

Indiana played a clean game offensively, finishing with zero turnovers on the day. Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea was intercepted once, by Indiana’s Jamari Sharpe, Nebraska’s lone giveaway. In a game decided by three points, the turnover differential mattered.

Player Of The Game: Nick Marsh

Marsh caught six passes for 187 yards and both of Indiana’s touchdowns, averaging 31.2 yards per reception. His 75-yard score in the fourth quarter cut Nebraska’s lead to 17-13, and his 44-yard touchdown with 7:13 left put Indiana ahead 20-17 for good.

Indiana Vs. Nebraska By The Numbers

Nebraska held a 383-328 edge in total yards and a 25-13 advantage in first downs, yet Indiana still won by three points. The Hoosiers averaged 12.0 yards per pass attempt compared to Nebraska’s 5.8, a gap that reflects Indiana’s reliance on big plays over sustained drives. Nebraska ran 39 times for 128 yards (3.3 per carry) while controlling possession for nearly double Indiana’s time of possession. Indiana’s defense forced the game’s only turnover and avoided giving one up, finishing even at zero turnovers lost.

What It Means

Indiana moved to 6-0 on the season and remained undefeated with the win, a result that follows the program’s 5-0 start referenced in Indiana’s earlier matchup with Rutgers. Nebraska dropped to 5-1. The result arrives in the same week that saw other ranked movement around the sport, including Ohio State’s win over Iowa, part of a broader picture tracked in the Week 6 College Football Playoff picture.

What’s Next

Neither team’s next opponent or date was included in the official data provided. Indiana will look to carry its 6-0 record forward, while Nebraska will aim to regroup after its first loss of the season.
