Key Moments: How The Grizzlies Pulled Away
Memphis controlled the opening quarter, closing it on a 9-0 run that included back-to-back three-pointers from Scotty Pippen Jr. to push the lead to 30-21. The Grizzlies carried that momentum into the second quarter, extending the margin to as many as 16 points at 45-30 on a Ty Jerome free throw with 7:46 left in the half.
Utah cut into the deficit with a 31-point third quarter, and the Jazz outscored Memphis 29-21 in the fourth. George scored 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting to keep Utah within range, but the Grizzlies’ first-half cushion proved too much to overcome. Memphis shot 43% from three-point range for the game, hitting 16 of 37 attempts, while Utah connected on just 30% of its own three-point tries.
