Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson Out Several Weeks Due To Ankle Injury

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Waton Carted Off Field Against Vikings

The Green Bay Packers (2-2) are coming off a home loss to the undefeated Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. As they head into Week Five, there is concern about the wide receiver position regarding one of their veteran wideouts. Green Bay has depth at that spot with Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed, etc. But, one particular pass catcher is injured once again.

Christian Watson has had a list of injuries during his short three-year career. That all started in his rookie season back in 2022. On Sunday, Christian Watson exited the game against the Vikings due to an ankle injury. According to ESPN’s Ian Rappaport, Watson could miss multiple weeks due to a high ankle sprain he suffered late in the first quarter.

Christian Watson was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain after Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran receiver has not played a full NFL season since he entered the league two seasons ago. It is unclear how many weeks the Green Bay Packers wideout will remain on the sidelines.

Head coach Matt Lafleur told reporters on Monday that Watson would be out for a week. But, ESPN insider Ian Rappaport has an extended timetable for a possible return. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned to the field on Sunday, but it was not his best performance. Love went 34-52 for 389 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Being that Jordan Love recovered quicker than expected, it is uncertain as to whether it was a good move by the coaching staff as he was seen limping during the game. Love’s first-half performance led to the team being down by a large margin early. He later redeemed himself by making huge plays in the second half that allowed them to have an opportunity to win.

Green Bay Packers Offense In Week Five

The Green Bay Packers are going on the road to face the Los Angeles Rams this week. They still have veteran leadership at wide receiver in Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. These wideouts will have to fill in for the injured Christian Watson in the upcoming game. If Watson will only be out for a week, it would put the Green Bay Packers back at full strength after Week Five.

Jayden Reed was the top receiver against Minnesota with seven catches for 139 yards and one touchdown. Tucker Craft and Dontayvion Wicks also caught passes in the endzone for the Green Bay Packers late in the second half on Sunday.

Jordan Love will have to connect with his receivers in the next contest and move the ball downfield in the passing game in order for the team to have a chance against Los Angeles. Health is key for the Green Bay Packers as the season moves along and the weeks continue.
