No. 2 Georgia takes its unbeaten record into Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday to face No. 6 Alabama in one of the marquee games of the college football season. The Bulldogs (5-0) and Crimson Tide (5-0) both enter with perfect records, and the Georgia vs Alabama matchup carries added weight after the teams’ 2024 meeting in Tuscaloosa ended with Alabama’s Ryan Williams scoring a game-winning touchdown in a 34-33 comeback win.

The biggest question heading into kickoff may not involve either roster. A tropical system identified as Tropical Depression Isaias could strengthen and make landfall along the Gulf Coast south of Mobile on Saturday, according to USA Today. Forecasts cited by the outlet show a 70% chance of rain with wind gusts possibly reaching 30 to 40 mph and a potential tornado threat in the Tuscaloosa area.

Georgia Vs Alabama Game Information

  • Date: Saturday, Oct. 10
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, Alabama
  • TV: ABC

ESPN’s College GameDay will broadcast on site, and President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit during the game weekend, according to Yahoo Sports. Those factors, combined with the storm forecast, have made logistics as much a storyline as the game itself. Georgia and Alabama have made no plans as of Wednesday to alter the scheduled kickoff, though the storm’s severity could change that in the coming days.

How Does The Weather Threat Affect Preparation

Both programs say they are treating the forecast as a factor rather than a crisis. Georgia kicker Peyton Woodring said the team has built wet-weather work into its routine. “We practice in the wet conditions all the time.

We do wet ball trails every week to prepare for those moments,” Woodring said, according to Sports Illustrated. “And then wind is something you see in pregame. You get to feel both sides of the stadium, which way the wind’s going, get a good read on it and how far you have to play a ball outside of uprights or where.”

Alabama offensive lineman Jackson Lloyd downplayed any adjustment on his side of the ball. “It doesn’t really affect me too much. I mean, rain or shine, we’re doing the same thing no matter what,” Lloyd said, according to the same report. “Plus you just get to run the ball more, so that’s always nice.”

What Does The 2024 Loss Mean For Georgia This Time

Several current Bulldogs, including Lawson Luckie, Raylen Wilson, quarterback Gunner Stockton, Drew Bobo and running back Nate Frazier, were part of the 2024 team that squandered a 30-7 lead before losing 34-33 in this same stadium. Starting left tackle Earnest Greene III referenced that history directly. “I kind of got a sour taste in my mouth, last time I was in this stadium in ’24, we got off to a slow start,” Greene said, according to Sports Illustrated.

Greene also framed the rematch as the kind of test Georgia recruits for. “They’re (Alabama) definitely good players, you come to Georgia for games like this against guys like this, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play against good players, and make sure we take care of what we’ve got to take care of and neutralize them,” he said. A teammate’s praise of Stockton underscored the trust built since that 2024 trip.

“I wouldn’t go to war with anyone else in America, I truly believe that,” the player said. “The way he prepares day in and day out for games like this, I’m just happy I get to block for a guy like that.”

Is Alabama’s Offense Peaking At The Right Time

Alabama has not needed a close finish to stay unbeaten this season. The Crimson Tide, coached by Kalen DeBoer, are averaging 49.6 points and 473.8 total yards per game, numbers boosted by a 56-23 rout of Mississippi State on Oct. 3 that extended their winning streak in that series to 17 games, per CBS Sports. Quarterback Keelon Russell passed for 285 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing score in that win.

He has thrown for 1,414 yards and 11 touchdowns against two interceptions on the season, completing 71.3% of his attempts with a 184.0 rating. Alabama outgained Mississippi State 179-18 on the ground in that game, with Trae’shawn Brown scoring twice on the ground, Rico Scott catching two touchdown passes and Dijon Lee Jr. returning an interception 30 yards for a score. Running back Daniel Hill leads Alabama’s rushing attack with 247 yards and four touchdowns on 51 carries, and receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams has 20 catches for 376 yards and four touchdowns.

Can Georgia’s Balance Hold Up On The Road

Georgia, under Kirby Smart, is averaging 51.4 points and 478.8 total yards per game, with Gunner Stockton completing 71% of his passes for 1,049 yards, 13 touchdowns and a single interception. Nate Frazier has rushed for 211 yards and five touchdowns on just 26 carries, a 6.5-yard average for the team overall, and Craig Dandridge leads the receiving corps with nine catches for 177 yards. The Bulldogs’ defense has generated seven takeaways against only four giveaways, a plus-three turnover margin that ranks among the better marks the team has posted through five games. Georgia is coming off a 38-14 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, extending its unbeaten start.

By The Numbers

  • Points per game: Georgia 51.4, Alabama 49.6
  • Total yards per game: Georgia 478.8, Alabama 473.8
  • Passing yards per game: Georgia 265.8, Alabama 287.4
  • Rushing yards per game: Georgia 213.0, Alabama 186.4
  • Yards per rush attempt: Georgia 6.5, Alabama 4.9
  • Third-down conversion rate: Georgia 54.90%, Alabama 49.12%
  • Turnover margin: Georgia plus-3, Alabama plus-1
  • Sacks recorded (defense): Georgia 13, Alabama 16

Key Matchup: Georgia’s Ground Game Against Alabama’s Front

Georgia’s 6.5 yards per carry and 213 rushing yards per game, paced by Nate Frazier’s 8.1-yard average on his 26 attempts, give the Bulldogs a clear path to control tempo in conditions that could limit the passing game for both teams. Alabama has allowed rushing yardage at a rate that trails its own output defensively, but the Crimson Tide’s defense has still produced 16 sacks and 25 tackles for loss in five games. If wind and rain do arrive as forecast, Georgia’s rushing identity and Alabama’s pass rush become more central than either team’s passing numbers through five weeks.

Players To Watch

Gunner Stockton, Georgia Quarterback

Stockton has thrown just one interception on 102 attempts this season and was among the Bulldogs who experienced the 2024 collapse in Tuscaloosa. His performance in adverse conditions, if the weather forecast holds, will shape Georgia’s offensive approach.

Keelon Russell, Alabama Quarterback

Russell has thrown 11 touchdowns against two interceptions and comes off a three-touchdown passing performance plus a rushing score against Mississippi State. His ability to extend Alabama’s offensive balance against a Georgia defense that has forced seven takeaways will be a focal point.

Nate Frazier, Georgia Running Back

Frazier has scored five touchdowns on just 26 carries this season. A heavier workload could be likely if poor weather limits downfield passing for both offenses.

What To Watch

Beyond the matchup itself, Saturday’s game sits at the intersection of College Football Playoff positioning and logistical uncertainty. Both teams are unbeaten and ranked in the top six nationally, and the outcome carries clear implications for playoff seeding discussions. Georgia and Alabama officials are continuing to monitor Tropical Depression Isaias and have made no changes to kickoff plans as of Wednesday.

Any update on the storm’s path, the weekend’s broadcast plans with College GameDay on site, or further details on President Trump’s scheduled visit would mark the next developments before Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
