The Atlanta Dream and State Farm Arena arranged for Enes Kanter Freedom to watch Game 3 of the WNBA Finals from a private luxury suite on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, after Freedom raised concerns about his personal safety at the game, according to Yahoo Sports. The suite came equipped with additional security, and state police assigned an officer to Freedom at his request.
Freedom contacted federal, state and local authorities, the WNBA, the Dream and State Farm Arena officials to voice his safety concerns ahead of the game, Yahoo Sports reported. The game pitted the Dream against the Golden State Valkyries.
The Main Development
The Dream confirmed the arrangement in a statement provided to Yahoo Sports. “The safety and security of our guests and team members is our highest priority,” the team said. “Following consultations with the WNBA, Dream ownership, State Farm Arena leadership and security officials, we have directed Mr.
Freedom to watch tonight’s game from a private luxury suite. This arrangement is intended to address his security concerns and help provide a safe and positive experience for him and other guests.”
The statement makes clear that the decision followed coordination among multiple parties, including the league office and arena leadership, rather than a unilateral move by the Dream alone.
What It Means
By moving Freedom into a private suite with extra security and a dedicated officer, the Dream and arena officials opted for a controlled setting rather than general seating. The arrangement addressed the specific concerns Freedom raised without requiring him to skip the game entirely.
No details have been made public about the nature of the safety concerns Freedom cited or who he believed posed a threat. The sources do not specify what prompted his worries beyond the fact that he raised them with multiple agencies and organizations.
Background
Freedom first announced his plan to attend Game 3 on social media on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, according to FOX Sports. His last appearance at a WNBA game came in late August, when he attended a matchup between Chicago and Indiana and was ejected and banned from that arena following a heated interaction with Sky guard Natasha Cloud.
That prior incident set the backdrop for the heightened security measures ahead of his return to a WNBA arena for the Finals.
What’s Next
No further statements have been released regarding whether Freedom attended Game 3 or how the arrangement unfolded during the game. The Dream and Valkyries continue their WNBA Finals series, with any additional updates on security measures likely to come from the league or team through official channels.
