The 2022 season was the last straw for the Cincinnati Reds. With manager David Bell having been recently fired, much discourse is happening about what is going to happen next for the team. Shortstop Elly De La Cruz weighed in on the Reds’ future recently, and as he does, the perspective revealed simply speaks of what needs to change about the team. With a mix of young talent and the right guidance, hope seems bright for the Reds in their future.

Young Talent Offers Hope to Cincinnati Reds

Elly De La Cruz is one of the most exciting young players on the team. Filled with a sense of exuberance and talent, he can elevate the whole roster. He feels that the young players can come together next season and compete. That optimism is important because even as the Reds have flashes of potential throughout the year, they have fought hard but had a difficult time finishing off games.

While De La Cruz is optimistic, he acknowledges that there are lots of things to be worked on. This acknowledgment is important. It shows that the players know their weaknesses; hence, they are ready to work on them. Improvement could come from better player development and a stronger game strategy. This is where a new manager can make a big difference.

Injuries have been a huge part of the Reds’ ineptness this season. Of note, Hunter Greene—the star pitcher—did spend time on the injured list with an elbow issue. And his absence has certainly made some spots in the rotation. This is a team that is simply impossible to regularly succeed with when some of the more notable players are not around. The next manager is going to have to hone in on keeping guys healthy and getting them back on the field.

Team Chemistry Focus

Team chemistry also plays a significant part. De La Cruz said that the players in his team are “good teammates”. Which is a positive start. Players who get close to each other well understand each other better on and off the field. A new manager should focus on building this chemistry too. When the players trust each other, they can work even better under heavy pressure.

The one whom the Reds will be looking for when a new manager is to be found should understand the dynamics within the team. This leader should be appreciative of young players, nurture their talents, and support them toward the realization of more potential in contributing to their respective teams and, in turn, the Reds. They should be smart strategically in making smart decisions that would give the team greater strength and the Reds greater power. With the right guidance, the Reds can harness their young talent effectively.

Looking Ahead to Next Season

With a few games to go in the season and with 76 wins and 83 losses, once again, the Reds are out of playoff contention. The door now swings open to the offseason. To some, that signals a time for self-reflection and making plans. This is now an opportunity to consider what failed and how it might have been different and might have turned out as a better game. The fans are always interested in how the front office will resolve these issues.

The Cincinnati Reds have a positive future ahead. It does have potential chances of growth with young stars on top, as seen in Elly De La Cruz. Injuries have not been a friend to the team this season. However, the right manager might change these outcomes. Considering the prospects for this offseason, the Reds will be well-positioned to build a stronger team. Hopefully, with dedication and focus, they can perform and help to achieve a more successful season ahead. Viewers must look out because great things might just be on their way.
