There is a sense of buildup with just one month to go until Daniel Dubois takes on Anthony Joshua for the IBF world title on September 21. Dubois and Joshua promised to give each other a tough fight in their recent face-to-face meeting with their respective promoters, Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn. It also gave a sneak preview into fighters’ training, attitudes, and the buildup towards this fight. Here is the breakdown of some of the issues the two discussed and their statements in anticipation of their duel. This fight will be aggressive, so let’s dive into the story to learn about the upcoming intense fight.
Daniel Dubois: Life And Career
This year, Dubois, who has been through different challenging situations in his career, was asked about his current status and preparedness to battle. This made many believe he could give Anthony Joshua a run for his money because he has been a ring beast for years. He, who had had an IBF title defense for a long time, was very concerned about his preparation and plans, stating that
“I respect every opponent and don’t underestimate anyone,” Joshua said. “But I know boxing very well. I study Daniel and analyze his characteristics, boxing talent, and background. Still, all that matters is if he’s ready. Everything else is irrelevant. He’ll see on September 21st.”
Anthony Joshua also addressed rumors about a past sparring session where Dubois allegedly knocked him out. He also challenged Daniel to prove himself in the ring against Anthony. If Daniel were capable of taking him down, the rumors would be valid against him; he said that,
“Everyone tries to use my name to boost their career,” Joshua remarked. “Daniel now has the opportunity to prove himself by fighting me. That’s the best way for him to show what he’s capable of.”
