The Cowboys vs Colts Week 10 matchup sends Dallas (3-5) on the road to face Indianapolis (2-6) on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on Fox. Both teams arrive having lost five of their last six games, and the biggest question is whether Dallas’ high-scoring offense can take advantage of a Colts defense that has allowed 42 points in its most recent game.

Can Dallas’ Offense Keep Up Its Scoring Pace Against A Leaky Colts Defense?

The Cowboys are averaging 27.4 points per game, the production fueled by quarterback Dak Prescott, who has completed 197 of 302 passes for 2,046 yards with 14 touchdowns against five interceptions this season. Dallas ranks ahead of Indianapolis in nearly every major offensive category, posting 349.9 total yards per game compared to the Colts’ 310.3.

Indianapolis has given up 20.1 points per game on defense this season and surrendered 42 points in a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 1. The Colts have also forced takeaways at one of the lowest rates in the league, with just four total takeaways through eight games.

Is Jonathan Taylor Enough To Carry A Colts Offense Without Consistent Passing?

Jonathan Taylor has rushed for 610 yards and eight touchdowns on 148 carries, making him the engine of an Indianapolis offense that otherwise ranks near the bottom of the league through the air. Quarterback Daniel Jones has thrown nine interceptions against just five touchdowns, completing 60.7% of his passes for 1,542 yards.

The Colts’ running game has produced 116.5 yards per game, but the passing attack has managed only 174.6 net passing yards per game, the lowest total in the matchup. Indianapolis will need Taylor to control the clock against a Dallas defense that has recorded 15 sacks and 34 tackles for loss this season.

Who Is Questionable Or Out For Sunday’s Game?

Dallas lists five players as questionable heading into Sunday: guard Tyler Smith (ankle), linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring), safety Caleb Downs (concussion), cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (ankle) and tight end Jake Ferguson (ankle sprain). None has been ruled out, and all are expected to have their status determined before kickoff.

Indianapolis has a similar group of questionable players, including tight end Drew Ogletree (knee), linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee), cornerback Justin Walley (knee) and wide receiver Anthony Gould (concussion). Wide receiver Alec Pierce remains on injured reserve with a left leg heel injury and has a projected return date of Nov. 29, meaning he will miss this game.

By The Numbers.

Key Matchup: Cowboys Offensive Line Against Colts Pass Rush

Dallas has allowed just 1.4 sacks per game this season, the best protection rate in this matchup, giving Prescott time to operate an offense averaging 255.8 passing yards per game. That protection could be tested by Smith’s questionable ankle status at guard.

Indianapolis has recorded 16 sacks as a team through eight games, a modest pass-rush total that will need to improve against a Cowboys line that has kept its quarterback upright all season. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas’ leading receiver with 60 catches for 709 yards and six touchdowns, figures to be a frequent target if Prescott has time to throw.

Players To Watch

Dak Prescott, QB, Cowboys

Prescott has thrown 14 touchdowns against five interceptions this season and leads an offense that ranks among the highest-scoring units in this matchup at 27.4 points per game.

Jonathan Taylor, RB, Colts

Taylor has rushed for 610 yards and eight touchdowns on 148 carries, representing the primary source of offensive production for an Indianapolis team that has struggled through the air.

CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys

Lamb has caught 60 passes for 709 yards and six touchdowns, leading a Dallas receiving corps that will face a Colts secondary missing wide receiver depth of its own due to the Pierce injury.

What To Watch

Dallas sits at 3-5 in the NFC East, five games back in the loss column from first-place New York. Indianapolis is 2-6 in the AFC South, trailing division-leading Jacksonville by four games. Neither team controls its playoff path at this point in the season, but a Cowboys win would mark consecutive victories over losing opponents following the team’s 38-21 rout of the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 27.

Dallas has also been mentioned in trade rumors involving pass rusher Josh Sweat ahead of the deadline, and owner Jerry Jones has said the team remains open to further moves. Coach Brian Schottenheimer has also drawn public support from Jones following the team’s recent struggles, a storyline that has followed the Cowboys through their uneven season, detailed in a report on Schottenheimer’s job security.
